Apparently, most of the talk on this guitar was positive. These are some reviews from Amazon:

This guitar will blow away guitars 2x,3x,4x its price, easy! What a shocking discovery and what an amazing guitar. I played 16 guitars in all at the store. Three Gibsons, three Martins and 10 Taylors. My budget was $3500. I A-B compared all of them. In the end, the 224CE Deluxe Koa won hands down. The crisp tone, perfect string separation, big sound, quality workmanship, sheer good looks, unbelievable playability… I can go on and on. My final 3 guitars were a Taylor 312, Taylor 814 and Taylor 224 Koa… The Koa won in every dept. Forget the price, if you are in the market for an amazing acoustic guitar, this has to be on top of your list. The icing on the cake, this was half the price of a Taylor 814! If you play one, you will buy one! I’ve been playing for over 30 years and many different acoustics, this is THE one! Oh and did I mention the guitar is a stunner!!!! Can’t put it down!

This guitar sounds amazing. The sound is very clear and sharp. The finish is high gloss and looks perfect. Koa wood gives you high quality sound. A true Taylor guitar. This model is made in Mexico but I don’t care. If you want American made you will have to go to 300 series or higher. I wanted this type of wood but did not want to pay 4K for American made model. The looks and sound will suit me for years to come

THIS guitar is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL and with a HUGE SOUND… Stays in tune and just has a REALLY great feel… I purchased one for my wife, and got myself one, too …. The workmanship put into this guitar is AMAZING …. This particular size is perfect … has a nice velvety, booming sound to it…. I didn’t even get them set up and they sound GREAT right out of the box … people say, “have it setup – it will be easy to play …” BUT, I’ve had no problems, AT ALL… You will love it … Seriously!

Bought one today at GC. I love it. It’s the most I’ve ever payed for a guitar, but the ease of play and comes with a beauty of a sound with the koa. That’s all I needed and there went my vacation pay! I’m not likely to even remove the plastic film cover over the pick guard for a while… and a very nice case. All is very beautiful. All I can say is YUM! I’m soaking in it.

The best Taylor guitar?

I’m going to be frank and say that it’s literally the best guitar Taylor has ever got to offer. However, you can say that it’s one of the best. If you can afford to put as much as $1500 on a guitar, then it’s a no brainer: this guitar is for you. When I heard the sound this guitar emitted, I was mesmerized. It was a soft, yet expressive and sharp, sound. You will certainly fall in love with it. No wonder it got a 5 star rating from every customer.

This is where things get a little bit… painful. As aforementioned, this guitar costs a whopping 1500 bucks. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? YES! We said before that this guitar is priced this much just for the sake of it. You will probably say you can’t afford it. Well, most guitar players won’t, either. However, if you are really determined to get one, a million of ways will pop into your mind on how to afford this Taylor 224ce.

  1. The Taylor 224ce Deluxe Koa Grand Auditorium Acoustic Guitar is something that my son would definitely be interested in. The price is a little steep but knowing from this article why it is priced as such does help. Thank you for putting some of the reviews on here. My son looks for guitars with clear and sharp sounds and the wood that it is made out of to create those sounds. I have a feeling he is going to love this one. Great review and I will be sending this link to him for his review.

  2. Have mulled over buying a guitar for weeks, having been spoiled by the loan of my brother’s Guild F55. Was reluctant to mortgage the house for a top end Guild. Visted every music store in the city, tried every mid-range guitar and been impressed by the Taylor 214CE I tried in a suburban RockShop. However, when I went to pick one up from their main shop in the city, the assistant said try one of these. I was sold on the 224 at first strum. I tried others in the same price-range in Martin and Guild, then happily walked out with the 224. Totally agree Reim. This is worth the money.
