FAQ

Does it have coil splitting?

Yep, it does.

How’s the distortion on this guitar is it good?

It’s good with distortion. I use it for lots of ozzy, Metallica, ect. If you want to play djent, prog, metalcore, really heavy stuff, you might want to swap the pickups

The description says it’s aged treatment. Is that true ?

No, mine wasn’t. Beautiful guitar. I think it’s well built for Chinese made.

Opinions

The opinions weren’t that negative. For its value, people were very satisfied. There were rare case in which the guitar arrived with missing parts and the like.

#1

Other than the fact that the sharp edge of the body of the guitar cuts into my right forearm after playing for more than 30 minutes, this guitar is fabulous. The action is a bit high and the strings a bit tense out of box. It however has bright, well balanced tones and stays in tune. ESP did well with this one. It can easily rival higher priced axes. Get it set up properly and you’ll be amazed.

My 3rd ESP and I love it !!! I have 2 LH models, both with Floyd Rose tremelos, so I needed another guitar for different tunings. This black and gold beauty sounds as good as it looks. The tuners and pickups are not top of the line but get the job done. The loudness toggle and push/pull pickup separator are a bonus. It also comes with a tune-o-matic bridge which I had to watch a few YouTube videos to learn how to properly adjust it. Best bang for the buck, period !

This is one solid guitar. Sounds great and coils splitting knob is so nice to have-you can achieve so many beautiful sounds this way.
It stays in tune for quite long, which is good thing-not like Epiphone les paul 100.
Although it needs a little adjusting to lower the action of the strings, I would recommend it to everybody.
EC-256 looks gorgeous, sounds amazing, LTD tuners do their job superbly.
You simply won’t have much to criticize if you’ll buy it.

Great guitar for the money. Looks fantastic and plays smoothly. Other buyers were complaining about muffled sound from the pickups, I too noticed this until I saw that there are protective plastic films over the humbuckers. Took those off, and it sounded much better. Coil tapping works well. One thing to note is that this guitar is heavy, at least, heavier than any other electric I’ve played.

Although guitar looks nice, when I opened the box I realized there was some missing parts. I found the missing parts on the bottom of the box. Its a pity as I was looking forward to play this guitar but I will need to return it.

Price

The LTD EC-256 is available in limited stock on Amazon, so be quick to grab one if you are planning to do so. As far as the price goes, as of writing this, the ESP LTD EC-256 costs $399.00 on Amazon. Frankly, I see that this is not overpriced. It has got a good potential, and it’s for both beginners and advanced players.

Rating

I give this electric a solid 4.5 rating. I like the design and the color. It would have been nice if more colors were available. As per my research, the LTD EC-256 is available in only 3 finishes — Black, black satin, and snow white. On Amazon, however, I found that only the black option is available. There may be offers for a used LTD EC-256 with a cheaper price, but there wasn’t any information on different colors. Anyhow, hopefully you enjoyed this review. Don’t forget to share with us your opinion! Happy Playin’!
